Croutons are a yummy delicacy and do not need recommendations. It is simply toasted and flavored bread, often in the shape of small cubes. In our vegan recipe, we toast the bread in lightly garlic flavored olive oil and then enrich their taste with spices and herbs which we add to the bread, while it is still hot, and thus release all their aromas.
The word "crouton" comes from the French word "croûte" which means "crust". Because of this, it is believed that their origin is from France, but this does not seem to be confirmed. The word "croutons" is basically used to describe the process of toasting bread. That is, same process with the one we use in vegan bruschettes .
Croutons are ideal as a topping in soups and salads. Especially in Caesar salad and other green salads as well as in velvet soups, such as our vegan pumpkin soup.
If you do not use them immediately, you can keep them for a few days in a closed jar.
Enjoy them!
